The world’s most cited optometrist joins EAOO 2026 in Riga
We are thrilled to welcome Professor Konrad Pesudovs, a SHARP Professor at UNSW and global leader in ophthalmology outcomes research.
Professor Konrad Pesudovs PhD, now a SHARP Professor at the University of New South Wales, trained in Optometry at the University of Melbourne, earned his PhD in Ophthalmology from Flinders University, completed postdoctoral fellowships in Bradford (UK) and Houston (USA), and from 2009–2017 served as the Foundation Chair of Optometry and Vision Science at Flinders University is the world’s most cited optometrist, with over 300 research papers, more than 130,000 citations, and an H-index above 80. He has received numerous international honours — including International Optometrist of the Year (2018), the H Barry Collin Medal (2020) and the Glenn Fry Award Lecture (2021) — recognising the global impact and contributions of his research in optometry and vision science.
His research interest is ophthalmology outcomes research; incorporating optical, visual and patient-reported measurement into the comprehensive assessment of ophthalmic outcomes. His pioneering work on patient-reported outcomes using Rasch analysis and the global Eye-tem Bank Project integrating computer-adaptive testing has laid the foundations for an interdisciplinary approach linking visual performance with quality of life and driving improvements in ophthalmic care through patient-centred measures. He has a strong track record in health valuation and epidemiology, particularly through his contributions to the Global Burden of Disease Study.
