EAOO 2026 Conference Venue
The Academic Center of the University of Latvia
The Academic Center of the University of Latvia is a modern hub for science, education, and innovation, located in Riga. It brings together the university’s faculties and research institutes in an interdisciplinary environment that fosters collaboration and scientific excellence.
At the heart of the center are two buildings – the House of Nature and the House of Science. Participants of the event will have the opportunity to experience both venues. The European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) Conference will take place in the House of Science, while the workshops and the Spring Meeting of the European Council of Optometry and Optics will be hosted in the House of Nature.
About Riga
The 2026 conference will take place in Riga, the capital of Latvia – one of the key cultural, economic, and educational centers in the Baltic region. With over 800 years of history, Riga offers a unique blend of well-preserved historical heritage and modern urban development.
The city’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its outstanding Art Nouveau architecture and vibrant cultural life. Riga offers a wide variety of museums, concert halls, restaurants, and recreational options, providing a rich and diverse experience for visitors.
Please note that during the conference dates – 15–17 May 2026 – Riga will also host the Rimi Riga Marathon, one of the most prominent and professionally organized public sporting events in the region. As the marathon routes pass through central parts of the city, we kindly advise you to take this into account when planning your daily schedule and transportation. Pedestrian movement will not be restricted, and bridges can be crossed as usual. Only motor vehicle traffic will be subject to temporary restrictions.
